The End

Not much new information to share this week. I’m working on perfecting the song because I don’t want to present a three quarter finished run through of the song. I’m looking forward to presenting and after presenting I’m looking forward to being able to spend more time on more songs so I can expand my genres in piano. I’ve been thinking of trying some classical next becasue I think it sounds beautiful. The toughest part of this project has been going through the best way to move my hands between some notes for the smoothest transitions. After that it would probably be the frustration of getting used to it again which made the first few days not very smooth playing. I have put many hours into this so I’m hoping people enjoy it.

Blog Post 5- Finishing Up

It’s getting closer to the end so I’ve really been trying to memorize this song. At this point I have almost five pages done out of seven and the last two are a tad easier so I think I’m on track. The song is coming together nicely now and I’m excited to present. I have been sidetracking myself again because I found another song I really like called Mountain Sound by Of Monsters and Men. The more I play All I Want the more fluent I can feel myself become in it which is a good feeling. Yeah, I’m excited to close this project out, I’ve had fun.

Blog Post 4- New Songs

This week I have probably played around six ish hours or so. Maybe more. I’m making good progress again. I found some more music which is good because it makes it more interesting to come back and play more. Now I have music for All I Want, Eleanor Rigby, many Bo Burnham songs, and a few from the movie La La Land. Most work I put towards All I Want because that’s the one I’m going to present and I want that one to sound really good. I have put many hours into it, right now I’m kind of working on memorizing it. I have the first three out of seven pages so far. Time is moving very fast, the actual presentation is sooner than later so I have to put a lot more hours into this still but I am not too worried.

Blog Post 3- Song I Chose

I’ve decided to focus on one song until I can kind of master it. That way when I present I will be really good at what I’m showing the class. I think I already mentioned that the song is called “All I Want” by Kodaline. I’ve made some pretty good progress especially over Spring Break. The song is not all that difficult to begin with. It sounds a lot harder than it is.

There hasn’t been much difficulty or setbacks. If there was any difficulty at all it would just be me not wanting to play at that time which isn’t really an issue because I have a lot of time to play and I’m usually happy to do it. There has been zero setbacks.

This project has been going really well.

This is part one and two of the music video for the song. The same song plays through both. There isn’t as much piano in the original as there is in the version I’m playing.

Blog Post 2- Goals

This week I’ve been getting started with the piano playing. We moved the piano to my room so I can play whenever I like in my own space. The biggest decisions so far have been which songs I would be interested in playing. Hundred by the Fray is one I’ve been thinking of playing but I’m going to have to play that down the line when I am better than right now. I’m a few hours into practice on a semi-easy song called “Congratulations” by Mac Miller. That won’t be a part of my final project though becasue of the nature of Mac Miller’s lyrics. I would very much like to get into some Adele songs. She is one of my favourites. Finding sheet music is very tough though. Either you can’t find it, or you have to pay for it, so I have not found much for free. I’ll probably try and use Youtbube videos to help me out. Finally I have a weekend with no work or anything so I think I’ll make some good progress this week. I think this week I’ll aim towards “Hundred” by the Fray and/or “Standing Still” by Reuben and the Dark.

Blog Post 1- Getting Started

It’s about two weeks in and I finally have my passion project sorted out for the most part. I will be relearning how to play the piano. Last time I played was probably around six years ago so I forget most of what I did. I’m looking forward to this project because I’ve been wanting to get back into this for a while so I think I will have enough motivation to actually do this project. The hardest part about this project will be the beginning when I’m getting back into the rhythym of playing the piano. Hopefully this will be a challenging and fun process.
